Townsville family of five, Sammi and Jayson, along with their three children have defied the odds of the current real estate market and secured a deposit and first home purchase in six weeks.
The couple, who have called Townsville home for seven years, never considered the prospect of owning their own home in today’s market conditions.
“We have three young children, so the idea of a house deposit seemed so out of reach for us,” Sammi said.
The family who called seven properties home after seven years were longing for stability and a forever home to cater to the lifestyle needs of their family.
“We were not having much luck with rentals in Townsville, as many investors would sell, forcing us to move nearly every year.
“We were in the car one day, and I was scrolling through Facebook and saw an ad about owning your own home, so one thing led to another and we were on the way to being home owners.”
Within six weeks, the Brunetto-Crutchfield family, who originally hailed from Cairns and now Townsville residents, managed to secure a home deposit and were officially on the house hunting journey before landing their first home purchase at The Reserve in Bohle Plains.
“We were ecstatic by the thought of being home owners, and were looking around Mount Elliott and Burdell before we heard about The Reserve in Bohle Plains.
“The central location, large land size, and affordability drove us to purchase at The Reserve, and we are so excited. We cannot believe we are home owners, it has been such a surreal process, but we finally got there.”
The Queensland Govermment’s First Home Owner Grants have significantly boosted home ownership and new builds for buyers across the state, with over 2,403 grants, equivalent to $40.5m offered to Townsville residents alone to assist with their first home purchase.
Urbex Realty General Manager Craig Covacich is pleased to experience stable sales activity in The Reserve development and eager first home buyers re entering the market a result of the First Home Owner Grant is certainly unbderpinng our sales volumes.
“We strive to create well connected communities across Australia, offering affordability with unmatched quality, and we continue to see first home buyers flock to The Reserve for its affordable entry prices , generous lot sizes and convenient location ” Craig said.
“In 2023, nearly one-third of purchases at The Reserve were from first home buyers (27 per cent) , which demonstrates our commitment to affordability within a connected community.”
Sammi and Jayson purchased the 395m2 lot in December from The Reserve’s Brushwood release, with the first slab of their four-bedroom home expected to be laid in the coming weeks.
